There are a few potential reasons for this issue.
- It could be a water hammer, this happens when the tap is turned off quickly, which in turn stops the water quickly in the pipes as it flows through. If that pipe is close to wood, it bangs against the wood.
- You could have loose pipes in your walls, if you check this and find this is the issue you will need to anchor your pipes to the wall with clips.
- Your water pressure could be too high – yes that is possible. You can test this yourself with a water pressure test gauge or call Russell Plumbing to come and test this for you.
- It could be that you have the wrong size washer around the base of the tap, if that is the case the washer will need to be replaced.
- If your home is an old one, it’s very possible you have a build up of scale in your pipes. Older homes used galvanized pipes which accumulated scale, if this is the issue the pipes will need to be replaced. Russell Plumbing can help you with this.
